Decorating With Books

A decorating trend that really has me enamoured is using books,displayed beautifully,     as a design element. I especially love the look of old books lounging around artistically. I don't know how long this will last but it is something that I intend holding on to.

Look how gorgeous!

 Especially one as beautiful as the one I picked up from Edinburgh Books on a holiday to Scotland a couple of years ago. It was a smorgasbord of Antique books and the shop itself was steeped in atmosphere. ( More on this another time.)
I fell in love with a book of Scottish Poetry published in 1887. Such a work of art! With glorious gold engraving on the covers, both front and back.

It was awarded as a prize for something as mundane as a Book Keeping course, I presume at the University! Johanni Goodall read the poetry back in the 19th century!

This one is going to be enjoying pride of place in my home for a long time to come. Trend or no trend!
